Morning News; August 14th, 2008

1) The Times said it best when it observed that the Yanks Just Don’t Have Their Heads in the Game. The Mets, on the other hand, have jumped on the opportunity to play the worst team in baseball and defeated the Nationals 12-0.

2) Coming soon to an America near you: a non-white majority! I imagine that one of the ridiculed SILive contributors finds this development to be quite unfortunate.

3) Joining item two in the collection of bads news for America (ah ha ha), inflation is higher than it’s been since 1991.

4) A town in Arkansas has found itself with a 24-hour curfew. Woo partyyy. Though I am divided on the issue (it does seem like crime truly is out of control), I do find this quote to be interesting:

“As far as I’m concerned, at 3 o’clock in the morning, nobody has any business being on the street, except the law”

5) So how does one accurately follow a diver falling rapidly down from a 10m platform? Well, just let it fall.

I’ve gotten an assignment, so I have to cut this short for now.

Regarding the number two issue, “(2) Coming soon to an America near you: a non-white majority! I imagine that one of the ridiculed SILive contributors finds this development to be quite unfortunate”…These SILive posts on the issue mentioned above may sum it up…
45016.2. 8/14/08 12:51 ET Welcome to the third world. Thank you diversity. by revolting,

And this exerpt from a rather wordy, windy post….
45016.3. 8/14/08 12:52 ET …White is not a race and neither is Hispanic. In fact what is a Hispanic anyway, a mulato by some definitions. They are caucasians, black, and native Americans. But we all know the Democrats love these neat little reference designations so they can create unfair hiring, and lending and education practices that unfavor causaians…. by Fossilstar,
You may be shocked, if you visit Staten Island, to see a lack of cowboy hats and Confederate flags. I assure you, we are a rather sophisticated, enlightened borough, with a small but thriving arts scene.
