Morning News; July 25th, 2008

Fridays will always be a little later as I have to sleep in on my day off. That said, here is a quick rundown of things I found interesting:

1) Mets won and now have sole possession of first place for the first time since April. They play the Cardinals tonight. Perhaps more exciting, however, Joba starts against the Sox tonight- both at 7pm.

2) For those interested in the atrocious farm subsidies, the Freakonomics dudes have an interview of an agricultural economist talking about The Illogic of Farm Subsidies.

3) Obama made a big speech in Berlin, and the Times has a little rundown of the reception it got among people in Berlin and in the Homeland.

4) And today’s depressing comment of the day- Iraqi sprinter responding to the decision to ban Iraq from the Olympics, discussed yesterday here:

“In this horrible situation, who can say I’ll even be alive in 2012?”

I’ll throw up some updates throughout the day- I just wanted to get a post up.
