McCain’s Straight Talk Express

while technically already declared dead by this site, has been revived and then murdered again:

Yesterday, Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds appeared on CNN for an interview with Campbell Brown. Brown was tough on Bounds, refusing to let him spout typical campaign talking points. She repeatedly pressed him on Palin’s foreign policy experience and qualifications, asking him to name one decision that she made as commander-in-chief of the Alaskan National Guard. Bounds was unable to do so.

Today, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer revealed that because of that tough interview, the McCain campaign has canceled the senator’s appearance on Larry King Live tonight:

The McCain campaign said it believed that exchange was over the line and as a result the interview scheduled for Larry King Live with Sen. McCain was pulled. CNN does not believe that Campbell’s interview was over the line. We are committed to fair coverage of both sides of this historic election.

So now McCain is punishing the press for actually interviewing one of his cronies (you know, instead of asking a question and then giving the platform over to the politcal hack). He’ll give you the straight talk! He’s a maverick! He’s…..afraid of the press!

Palin Wanted to Ban Books

This one from Time Magazine. The entire article is worth reading, since it chronicles a huge portion of her political experience ( > 50%).

Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. “She asked the library how she could go about banning books,” he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. “The librarian was aghast.” That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn’t be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving “full support” to the mayor.

I am searching for someone (not an SILive forums moron) to defend this woman- or even the McCain ticket anymore.

Afternoon News; September 1st, 2008

1) Oil fell to about $105 a barrel, relieving some pressure on the concern about inflation.

2) Here’s a surprise: families (of every income bracket) experience greater advances in income under democratic presidents than under republican ones.

3) Google just released its own web-browser, the Chrome. I haven’t taken it for a test ride yet, but I’d guess that it is worth a look.

4) So, instead of being a war for oil, which Palin acknowledged, the war in Iraq is a task from God. Well, you were right before you were wrong, Mrs. Palin. Nutjob.
