I must say tonight while watching Ted Kennedy, whether you were a republican or a democrat you had to stand and applaud the courage it took for him to go out there just months removed from the surgery to remove the tumor and make that speech. Over the years, Ted has angered many people and he given hope to many people. Regardless of what you think of the man, he has been a dedicated servant to our country for his entire political career.
One quote in particular I will remember most from the powerful speech he made tonight:
“We are told that Barack Obama believes too much in an America of high principle and bold endeavors,” Kennedy said. “But when John F. Kennedy thought of going to the moon, he didn’t say, ‘It’s too far to get there — we shouldn’t even try.”
People in this country may be afraid of change….well, maintaining the status quo and not changing horses in midstream has brought our country to brink of one of the worst economic crises we have ever faced and wars that can’t be fully won. Maybe it is time we change things up. JFK’s ‘crazy’ goals were achieved. Theres no reason why we shouldn’t believe Barack will bring positive change to this country.

Lest we forget, we McCain to thank for this nugget of classy maturity:
Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno.
Okay, so you’re a Senator. You’re (supposed to be) an adult. And you think it is okay to shamelessly ridicule the looks of not only the first female Attorney General, but the 17 year old daughter of the President? That’s just unimaginably cruel. Pretend you’re a self-conscious seventeen year old girl and a Senator (not a toothless hick or twelve year old boy) makes a joke about how ugly you are to the press. Is this guy supposed to be presidential? He’s an asshole (he also, incidentally, called his wife a cunt during the 2000 presidential campaign. Great guy).
So the McCain campaign recently released two television ads trying to woo former Hillary supporters. The first takes excerpts of Hillary’s criticisms of Obama during the primary cycle (a well worn general election strategy) as evidence that Obama is unqualified, but this one is of greater interest to me:
Though it remains unclear to me whether these peculiar hybrids are actually going to vote for McCain (or if they are merely being bitter and spiteful and will vote for Obama in the fall), it is reasonably clear that there is one such person: Debra. It is to you that this post is addressed- and I expect a prompt reply.
So apparently the McCain’s have been trotting out this story, first that Cindy merely agreed to take one of the children at Mother Theresa’s orphanage (campaign bio, 2004):
During one of those missions, on a visit to Mother Teresa’s Orphanage Cindy agreed to bring two babies in need of medical attention back to the United States. One of those babies is now a happy and healthy little girl named Bridget McCain.
And the website February 2008, which suggests that Mother Theresa convinced her to adopt one of the children:
On one of those missions, Mother Teresa convinced Cindy to take two babies in need of medical attention to the United States. One of those babies is now their adopted daughter, 15 year old Bridget McCain.
Finally, during the Rick Warren Forum, the question about Mother Theresa was one of the few that McCain teared up during.
The inconvenient truth, however, is that Cindy McCain never met or even spoke with Mother Theresa on that trip. So McCain teared up at the Rick Warren Forum for a story about Mother Theresa that was a complete fabrication. Awesome. Stay classy John McCain!
Also, apparently Cindy McCain’s “family recipes” were pulled from the campaign website because they were found to be directly copied from the Food Network website. I mean that isn’t even angering- it’s just kind of pathetic. Who cares what her recipes are? Is it so important that you have to copy them off of ANOTHER WEBSITE (and risk getting caught)? I guess image is that important to them.
